Understanding Wigwam’s security model
Wigwam is an MPC self-custodial wallet, which means only you have access to your crypto funds. Your password is a key part of your seed phrase and secures your assets on the blockchain.
For security reasons:
- We do not store your password on our servers.
- You cannot reset or retrieve your password via email because we do not have access to it.
If you forget your password, follow the steps below based on your situation.
Steps to recover your wallet
Sometimes, due to a slow internet connection or because a user's local IP has been filtered by internet providers, the connection to the wallet synchronization may be aborted. For this reason, double-check that you have a stable internet connection and consider using a reliable VPN (filter breaker) to ensure that your IP is not blocked by internet providers or security systems.
After try to log in in the wallet again.
If you haven’t deleted your account from your device, you can still log in using your email:
- Open the Wigwam app and log in with your registered email.
- Go to Settings and create additional backup methods, such as:
- Google Drive Backup
- Passkey Backup
- These backup methods ensure you can always regain access to your wallet, even if you forget your password.
If you are trying to access your account on a new device, follow these steps:
- Log in with your main email.
- Use any backup method you previously set up (Google Drive or Passkey) to restore access.
A. Your Wallet Has No Funds
If your wallet balance is empty, the best option is to:
- Delete your current account.
- Create a new wallet in Wigwam.
- During the deletion process, save your private keys.
- These keys allow you to access your wallet using other self-custodial wallets (for EVM blockchains).
B. Your Wallet Has Crypto Funds and You Lost Access
If you have crypto funds in your account and no other backup methods:
- Your only option is to recall your password.
- If you cannot remember your password, your funds will be permanently lost.
⚠️ Wigwam cannot retrieve or reset your password since we do not store it.
